This small mixed choir focusses on early music but also features more recent works. Programmes include Janequin’s Le chant des oiseaux and Purcell’s Fairy Queen. Our classes are small and include a mixture of action songs, movement, percussion time and good old fashioned singing with emphasis on having fun and enjoying music. We take the time to develop your child’s confidence and make music part of everyday life. Classes are run by carefully selected class leaders trained to use the material especially designed for their very young pupils. A series of 3 developmental programmes caters for children aged from birth to 5 years old.

Baby Bounce and Rhyme

Baby Bounce and Rhyme, singing songs and rhymes with accompanying actions has developed into one of the great success stories in Devon libraries. Based on a strong element of participation, the sessions are both lively and stimulating for babies, toddlers, parents, carers and grandparents alike and introduce a BIG fun element to our work with pre-school children. Free Nursery rhyme cards are available at all our Baby Bounce and Rhyme sessions. Major Minor Music

Preschool music groups for children aged 18 months to 7 years. Based on Montessori principles and acting as UK agents for the internationally renowned Muiskgarten Programme. While Mervyn’s classes provide a full schedule during term time, we also run training workshops for early years teachers and promote quality, developmentally-appropriate resources. We also work collaboratively as children’s song writers and are passionate about the potential for learning through educational songs and rhymes.

St Margaret’s Church Choir

The Choir sings a very large repertoire of church music, ranging from medieval plainsong through Byrd and Palestrina to modern pieces by Benjamin Britten, Herbert Howells and John Rutter. From time to time we are invited to sing Evensong at Exeter Cathedral. Age range 7 to 80 years.
