Exeter Cathedral Choir

August 20, 2010 § Leave a comment

The Cathedral Choir consists of 20 Boy and 20 Girl Choristers and 13 adults who sing the alto, tenor and bass parts. The Gentlemen of the Choir are either Choral Scholars (on a gap year or studying at Exeter University) or Lay Vicars (professional singers who combine their Cathedral work with professions ranging from teachers to translators). The Choir has sung the liturgical services of the Cathedral church almost without interruption since the early 13th Century. The choir’s extensive repertoire covers a wide range of music from medieval plainsong to contemporary works. It is a professional body with recording, broadcasting, and concert engagements.
