Originally formed from serving police officers in Exeter, the choir now attracts members from the wider community. The lively repertoire includes spirituals, hymns, songs from musicals and other popular pieces. The choir regularly helps many organisations throughout Devon to raise money for their own charities during the year.

  • Exeter Police and Community Choir are staging their start of season concert – a major fundraiser for the choir – and will be supported by QE Jazz (the Queen Elizabeth School Jazz Band from Crediton) in what should be a great evening of all-round entertainment. QE Jazz were finalists in the National Music for Youth Festival.

    Exeter Police and Community Choir went ‘back to work’ on September 3 – with the start of rehearsals for the new season.

    The choir’s first concert of the season will be held on Thursday September 20 at St. Boniface Church, Whipton, in aid of church funds. Tickets are available at £5.00 each.

    This will be a timely ‘warm-up’ for the choir’s own major fundraising concert of the season in Exeter on Saturday, September 29 when the choir will combine with QE Jazz (the Queen Elizabeth School Jazz Band) in what should be a great evening of all-round entertainment appealing to all ages.

    “QE Jazz have previously been finalists in the National Music for Youth Festival so we are delighted that they are joining us once again for what will be a special evening,” says Choir Chairman Graham Bulford.

    This concert, held in lieu of the usual end-of-season concert, will be staged at the Salvation Army Temple in Friars Walk, off Holloway Street, Exeter at 7pm on September 29.

    Tickets for this are priced at only £6.00 for adults and £4.00 for young people under 16. They are are available from John Fox, 33, Ide Lane, Exeter EX2 8UR Tel 01392 211753 or any choir member.

    The choir is currently looking for new choir members. If you enjoy singing, then come along to a Monday evening rehearsal at St. Boniface Church, Whipton, where you will be more than welcome.
